This 173-home community in Sacramento California was developed by Epick Homes, at the time a virtually unknown builder in the area. To be successful, Epick's Riversgate community needed to compete directly with communities being built by several of the area's dominant national builders.
Seizing on its location near the Sacramento River and proximity to downtown Sacramento gave sgwcreative an opportunity to name and position Riversgate for a younger professional audience, who wanted to avoid making long commutes from the suburbs to downtown. The architecture had an English cottage feel and the backyards were small but private, inspiring an English garden theme for marketing. The overall community was made to feel luxurious by wide streets, a gated entry and extensive landscaping. All elements of the marketing communications, from advertising and collateral to community signage and sales office, worked in unison with the exclusive feel of the community
Riversgate was sold-out in less than two years, far exceeding expectations. The development was a 1999 MAME Community of the Year award winner in the Building Industry Association of Superior California, Sacramento.
